Q: I am a 23 years old female suffering from fungal infection of toes. It usually occurs in winter and starts with swelling in toes and then blackening of skin occurs. The skin is almost blackened now so could you please suggest any medicine or cream to cure this infection. Someone suggested anti-bacterial oil for this, will it be helpful? If yes, then could you suggest me the name of medication?

A:Please note that there seems to be a heavy confusion in the diagnosis of your problem. If according to you it is a fungal problem, it will never respond to anti-bacterial.May I suggest the following:Keep your feet clean and dryUse a good anti-fungal dusting powderAvoid closed and tight footwearUse an anti-fungal cream twice dailyOral anti-fungal agents like fluconazole may give faster results. But this to be taken under medical supervision.
