Q: I am a diabetic patient. My blood sugar is presently around 120-140 (PP) and it is under control steadily. As a diabetic patient with blood sugar under control, what are the chances of kidney or heart problems?
A:If you are controlling your sugar level well, as your values seem to suggest, the chances of any complications are low. Please try to ensure the following to avoid any complications:1. Fasting blood sugar below 110/ maximum 1202. PP blood sugar below 140/ maximum 1603. Glycosylated haemoglobin below 6.5/ maximum 74. Blood pressure (BP) of 120/80 or below5. LDL cholesterol below 100 mg/dlIf you achieve these, your risk for complications is very low.
