Q: I am a 56 years old male suffering from frozen shoulder for the last one month. I got tests done for CBC, blood sugar and uric acid, which are normal. However, I have Vitamin B12 deficiency. How should I treat Vitamin B12 deficiency? Can this be the cause of frozen shoulder?

A:No, Vitamin B12 is not a cause of frozen shoulder. I would consult a physician to best see what the cause of the deficiency is and then treat it.

Treatment of frozen shoulder is cortisone injection of the shoulder followed by aggressive physiotherapy (PT). Please be aware it can take several months before range of motion will improve. It can be a frustrating problem. If PT does not help, sometimes patients have to be manipulated under anaesthesia to regain motion.
