Q: Is desi ghee harmful at the age of 45 years? My father is consumes a fair quantity at the age of 90 years and is quite active.

A:We believe that Desi Ghee contains a large amount of saturated fatty acids which increase the bad cholesterol in blood which is an important risk factor for causation of illnesses like angina, heart attacks etc. If the person has other risk factors like high BP, smoking, obesity, diabetes mellitus, physical inactivity etc., it certainly should not be taken in fair or large amounts. It is nice to learn that your father is healthy at an elderly age and he is fond of Desi Ghee. These are anecdotes and not the rule.
