Has gatifloxacin been banned?

Q: Please let me know if gatifloxacin is banned. and if yes, in which country is it banned? Is it banned in India?

A:Gatifloxacin (such as Zyquin) is not banned anywhere. The only recent change in its usage is that it should not be used in patients of diabetes. In all other cases it is as safe and effective as other quinolones such as ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin etc. Its advantage is that a single dose per day is adequate.
