Eyes - Computer use

Q: I am a software engineer and I have to sit in front of the computer for 12-14 hours. My eyes pain and water comes from my eyes. I wash my eyes with water four times a day but no relief. Can you please suggest me what to do?

A:Watering of eyes is a very common symptom after prolonged computer use. To protect you eyes from computer radiation, you should put an anti-glare screen which helps to dull the radiation. A proper distance from the computer should be maintained. Give your eyes a rest every 15 to 20 minutes by focusing on a distant object for 10 to 15 seconds and blink often to prevent dry eyes. Get up and move around as often as possible - at least once every 20 to 30 minutes. There is not much one can do to avoid eye strain. If possible, reduce the time that you spend at your computer.
