Eye- Cataract and retinal detachment

Q: I am suffering from cataract since birth and was operated thirty years back. Since then I am using thick glasses. Six years back I met with an accident and the retina of my left eye got detatched. Currently the vision of my left eye is 6/60 and 6/9 in the right eye. What are the treatments available to rectify this problem?

A:You must have undergone a retinal reattachment surgery. Following surgery the visual recovery depends on the retinal function, which gets compromised due to decreased nurtition to the rods and cones during the period of detachment. There is also a change of glasses power after surgery. Kindly get your glasses checked from your eye doctor. If the retinal function is weak then there is no treatment at present to increase your vision.
