Exercises after a Caesarean section

Q: I got a Caesarean section 6 months back following which my waist has increased drastically and it looks very ugly. My Gynecologist told me that it will reduce after a while, and if not you can do some small exercises post-partum. Can you tell me what are the exercises I can do.

A:Exercises following a Caesarean SectionHead Sit-UpsCross your hands over your abdomen, and pull your stomach muscles together toward your bellybutton. Lift your head while leading with your chin. Hold this position for 3 seconds and repeat it 5 - 10 times. Pelvic RockingLie on your back and bend your knees keeping your feet and shoulders flat on the bed. Keep your knees together then roll them from one side to the other. Your feet should stay in the same place as your knees roll from side to side. Repeat this 5 - 10 times.Pelvic TiltGet down on your hands and knees and pull your stomach up to arch your back. Hold this position for 3 - 5 seconds. Repeat it 5 - 10 times. Abdominal Exercises Curl-UpsLie on your back, and bend your knees. Lift your head, chest, and shoulders slightly off the bed at 45 degrees angle. Repeat this 10 times. Breathe out as you lift up your head. Oblique Curl-Ups Same as above, but reach to one side then to the other side. Repeat it 10 times. For both these exercises, only lift your head off the floor. Use your hands and arms to support your stomach muscles on the sides of the bulge. Cross your hands over your abdomen, and pull the stomach muscles toward the center.
