Does the drug gatifloxacin interfere with blood sugar levels?

Q: Recently, I got a glucose tolerance test done. The values are fasting 130 mg/dl and after 2 hours it is 156 mg/dl. But during this time I was on the drug gatifloxacin>/b>. Could this have made an impact on my glucose levels or am I diabetic?
A:Yes, gatifloxacin has adverse effect on blood glucose. You should get the tests done again when you are not on any medicine. The blood glucose levels are marginally higher. Only repeat testing will show whether or not you have hyperglycaemia.
