Q: If diagnosed with glaucoma, can a person still lose his sight after surgery?
A:Glaucoma is a complex disease of the eye. There is plenty of literature on it. Most of the patients are well managed on eye drops. If the disease does not respond, surgery is the option. 40% of the time, the pressures go up again after a good and successful surgery, and damage can continue to progress. The damage done by Glaucoma is non reversible. So it is wise to have periodic check ups and various investigations and prevent damage.
