Q: As per the immunisation schedule, the Hepatitis B booster dose was supposed to be given to my daughter between 4-6 years. I had been to a different doctor last time. She expressed her concern and requested to go for an additional dose, if not given earlier. Will there be any side effect if the same has to be given once more? We are not able to remember if the same booster dose was give earlier.
A:As per the current recommendations, a Hepatitis B booster dose is NOT recommended provided that the child has had the initial three doses of primary immunization. Thus if your child has had the initial three doses, then there is no need for the booster dose.
