Q: My 24 years old wife developed diabetes during sixth month of pregnancy. At that time, the doctor assured us that it would get normal but even after a year and a half of her delivery she has diabetes. Why is it so?
A:Diabetes during pregnancy is called gestational diabetes. Diabetes may or may not remit after delivery. If it stays, diabetes treatment is to be continued. Even if it remits after delivery, one is at high risk of developing diabetes later in life.
