Q: If an otherwise healthy immunocompetent middle-aged person ungergoes a check-up and the result of stool culture shows fungi, does it require a prescription? If yes, then what?
A:Candida tends to be the fungal organism commonly grown in the faeces and does not warrant treatment in a healthy human unless immuno-deficient due to various causes, taking therapy. However in an individual, compromised on immuno suppressive therapy it would be advisable and ethical to treat the organism if it continues to persist in several samples, and would also depend upon the type of fungal organism and the persons clinical condition should be the utmost deciding factor. I hope I have answered your question.
