Does Anxit have any side effects?

Q: Does Anxit 0.5 mg, prescribed for insomnia, have any side effects? I am a 37 years old woman, weighing 64 kg and suffering from insomnia?

A:Anxit contains alprazolam, which is indicated to temporarily relieve anxiety. It is not a sleeping pill. It is to be used only for short durations (no more than 7 days at the most at a time). The sleeping pill (called hypnotic) contains zolpidem and is sold under the trade name of Zleep 5/10 mg (by Wockhardt). The usual dose is 10 mg at bedtime for a few days, say 7 to 10 days.
