Does an air purifier help control pollution at home?

Q: I stay in Bangalore. The severe pollution in the city causes many respiratory problems. I came across an advertisement about an air purifier-ioniser, which will take care of the pollution in a room. Is it advisable to use this air purifier?

A:Room Air purifiers make only a marginal impact. If you do not reside in a particularly heavily polluted area and do not have a respiratory disease like Asthma or recurrent Bronchitis then there is no wisdom in going for air purifiers.
