Does a flat nose require surgery?

Q: My nephew will be a year old very soon. He is a charming boy but has a flat nose. It is flat from the sides of the eye and is not raised at all. Will it become normal with his growth? People give suggestions that I should massage it with oil. Can anything like surgery be done to correct it? At what age can the surgery be done? I am worried that other children will make fun of him later on. Please recommend something.

A:I do not think there is any cause for worry just yet. The face grows and moulds in the first 6-8 years of life. Till that time you should not even think of any correction. Only after that would one need to evaluate.
