Do I need special care after a kidney transplant?

Q: I had a kidney transplant 24 days back. For how many hours can I sit continuously? Will it cause any harm? For how long should I sleep? Which physical activities do I have to take care of now?

A:You can sit for as long as you feel comfortable. You are still in the early phase after transplant and your body will gradually gain strength. You should get adequate sleep of around 8 hours a day. You can do most activities of dialysis living but do not try & lift heavy weights and maintain the utmost level of personal hygiene.
