Chronic tonsillitis

Q: My daughter has chronic tonsillitis. She is seven years old. When she was four, she had rheumatic fever and was given penicilin - 400mg daily for a continuous period of two years. The treatment was done by a senior heart specialist. But even after her above treatment she is still suffering from tonsillitis. And now I have been asked to get the tonsil operated. What would be the best approach in the above cercumstances?

A:In case your daughter has been having more than 3-4 episodes of tonsillitis a year, specially with a past history of rheumatic fever, it would be best to have tonsillectomy performed. It is a relatively minor surgery, without significant complications, and would give you a lot of peace.
