Can we consume the medicines after their expiry date?

Q: What changes occur in medicines after the date of expiry? What happens after a month, a year if the colour and the temperature are maintained properly? I am working in a medicine company. We have destroyed a lot of centrum tablets which were just 6 month over the expiry date. Can we consume them ourselves as multivitamins?

A:Medicines are legally not permitted to be sold/stocked after the expiry date irrespective of whether or not they lose their potency etc. Violation of this rule is a criminal offence.
