Can surgery or medicines restore the sense of smell?

Q: I lost my sense of smell for the last 8 years. I also start sneezing whenever it hurts even lightly on my nose. The problem temporarily gets cured whenever I take antibiotics / anti-inflammatory medicines, in case of fever etc, for a couple of week only. One ENT specialist told that surgery is the only remedy. I am 40 years old now. One told that it could be cured by radio-frequencies. My question is - whether surgery is the only remedy or oral medication will be able to treat it?

A:You need to be examined by a nasal endoscope and it needs to be found out what is blocking the odours. After the examination only it can be decided how you can be treated, surgically or medically.
