Q: I am a 42 years old male experiencing headache and dizziness. Due to this, I am unable to concentrate on my work and feel sleepy all the time. Sometimes, I take pain killers like Paracetamol for headache. How can headache and dizziness be managed permanently?

A:You need a detailed history taking and evaluation as to the type of headache you have - generalised tension type headache or half-head (hemi cranial) migraine type headache. Also, we need to rule out other causes of headache including eye strain, sinusitis, ear or tooth problems and high blood pressure. It would be worthwhile to visit your physician, who can assess this and accordingly advise medication and lifestyle changes. There are preventive / prophylactic medications other than painkillers, which are prescribed to reduce the frequency of headaches.
