Q: My 45-day-old baby is suffering from anal fistula. Can it be treated without surgery?
A:Many of these occur because of infection in the area, and will heal over completely with a course of antibiotics. If however, the discharge is persistent, then surgery is the only solution. But surgery can easily be deferred till the baby is a little older.
