Can Mirtaz tablet be taken while breast feeding?

Q: I am a 25 years old nursing mother using Mirtaz tablet. Can this medicine be taken while breast feeding? Will it have any side effects on my child?

A:Mirtaz (mirtazipine) is excreted in milk in animal experiments. It is a very potent (strong) medicine with many serious side effects that can adversely affect the baby. Therefore its use during breast feeding is contraindicated (not permitted).
