Can I take norethisterone tablets to delay my periods?

Q: I have been given norethisterone tablets to delay my periods. Is it really important that it should be taken 3-4 days before the periods are due? Can I not take it 1-2 days after I am due?

A:One tablet two times daily of norethisterone 5 mg is to be taken three days before expected date of menstruation but for no more than 10-14 days. Bleeding will occur 2-3 days after stopping the medication. You cannot take them after due date.
