Can I take an injection of zoledronic acid?

Q: I am a 37 years old housewife suffering from avascular necrosis (AVN). Can I take an injection of zoledronic acid? Please advise.

A:Zoledronic acid is approved for use to prevent pathological fracture, spinal cord compression, radiation to bone or surgery to bone in patients with advanced malignancies involving bone and treatment of tumour induced hypercalcaemia.There is no evidence of its efficacy and safety in Avascular Necrosis (AVN).
