Q: My age is 26 years; I got married 18 months back. I am suffering from recurrent urine infections. I have taken so many tablets but nothing helped. I don't know what to do. My X-ray (KUB), ultra sound and blood reports, all are normal. E. coli bacteria has been found in my urine. Some doctors opinion is that I have honeymoon cystitis. I drink lots of water and take tablets regularly. I am taking Furadantin 50 mg at bed time. What is the permanent solution for this urine infection? Can I try for pregnancy?

A:Local hygiene will help you. Trim the pubic hair, take sitz bath i.e. sit in a tub of luke warm water with few granules of potassium permanganate once a day. Basically your own bacteria are carried in the urethra during intercourse. Furadantin 50 or 100 mg once after dinner is good or you can take tablet Norflox 200 mg at bed time. If you remain ok for 1-2 months, you can plan for pregnancy.
