Can I have sex with my wife after taking rabies vaccine?

Q: I took the rabies vaccination after a street dog bit me. Is it safe to have sex with my wife during this period of vaccination? Does rabies spread through saliva/sex? Should my partner also take rabies vaccination?

A:The vaccine is not a live virus. It poses no risk to you or wife. There have been no cases of human to human contact of rabies through sexual intercourse or saliva.
