Can I give my child the BCG vaccine at 8 months?

Q: We are at present in the USA. My son was born 3 months back. Since there is no vaccination for TB here, he has not been vaccinated with BCG. When is the latest I can give him this? I am coming back to India in another six months and he will be 8 months by then. Is the vaccine given at that age in India? Is it equally effective if given at that time? Likewise, my daughter turns 2 years in another 2 months and she too has not been vaccinated for Typhoid. Till what age can she be immunised against Typhoid?

A:You can safely wait for your return to India to get your children vaccinated against these diseases. Typhoid vaccine is given after two years of age.
