Q: After a TORCH capsule test, it was found that I am infected with Rubella IgG 53.9 IU/ml and Cytomegalovirus IgG 132.9 AU/ml due to which I lost my 34 weeks baby in my womb as the placenta got calcified. Can I deliver a normal baby in my next pregnancy? I have had vaccination done for rubella. Is there any possibility for an abnormal child in my next pregnancy?
A:I am sorry to read that you lost your baby at 34 weeks of gestation. You need to be thoroughly investigated to know whether this happened due to infection or some other reason like high blood pressure, gestational diabetes mellitus, antiphospholpid antibody syndrome etc. It is good you were vaccinated for rubella. You need to have a gap of atleast 6 months to recover physically and emotionally from this episode and be completely investigated before you conceive again.
