Can I carry medicines when I am travelling abroad?

Q: I am travelling to USA very soon. Can I take duloxetine hydrochloride, Alprozolam, histamines and mucous thinning medicines in my baggage? I need to carry at least 2-3 months of the stock as the first two items are quite expensive there. Are these medicines considered to have any narcotics?

A:You can take medicines for your personal use provided you have medical prescription (giving diagnosis, dose and duration) while travelling out of India. Since Alprazolam can be misused for addiction, you should carry no more than what is actually required for the duration for which you remain in the United States.
