Can damaged tissues in diabetics get replaced?

Q: I am a 39 years old man suffering from diabetes. Do tissues damaged by high blood sugar get replaced when the sugar is controlled?

A:Most complications of diabetes can be delayed/slowed down; they can't be prevented completely. Damaged tissues may or may not be replaced by normal tissues. It depends on the type of tissues, e.g. brain tissue is never replaced. The seed of these tissues damage is sown even before the diabetes is detected.
