Q: Is it safe to use copper-T for the second time? The gynaecologist, while removing the copper-T, has advised not to use it for the second time, as I might get an infection. I have used it for 5 years and got it removed 4 months back. Please advise.
A:I do not know of a reason that the IUD cannot be placed again; unless it was taken out because of an infection. If you had an infection the first time, you may be at a higher risk for a subsequent infection and should consider other contraception options.
