Q: I am 19 years old with a history of deviated nasal septum surgery. Before surgery I was highly allergic to dust. I had symptoms of rhinitis, running nose and blockage. After surgery it has greatly reduced but now when I play volleyball I have started having pain in my ears. Also there is unequal pressure distribution. First I thought it was because of cold but this has gone on for over 2 weeks now. Can this be because of an allergic reaction?

A:The allergy or the cold is causing your Eustachian tube (tube connecting nose and ears) to get blocked and thus the feeling of unequal pressure and the pain occasionally. Please go in for:Steam Inhalation dailyDon't sniff or blow your nose forciblyNo need for antibioticsIf no improvement, See your ENT surgeon.
