Q: My brother has kidney failure since last year. Now he is infected with hepatitis C virus. Is it advisable to proceed for transplantation? What is the level of the hepatitis C virus which is acceptable for transplantation?
A:Before going ahead with a kidney transplant, it is advisable to take antiviral drugs and make the HCV negative, if possible.
