A:There are no 'cures' available for Asthma as yet - however, depending upon the nature and severity of Asthma in a given patient, there are certainly some newer and more effective treatment modalities. One recent introduction, is with the group of Leukotriene receptor antagonists - Montelukast and Zafirlukast. Perhaps this group of drugs is what your friend is referring to. However, you could discuss this with your treating Physician.
