Q: I am a 56 years old man having weak erection for the last year. Urine flow also is like a heavy dribble instead of a strong flow. However there have been occasions when the urine flow has been strong. Could both the problems be due to prostate? If so, can the condition be treated with any medicines?
A:Prostatic gland sitting around the bladder neck may affect flow of urination with its enlargement with advancing age as you described. Prostatic enlargement, however, has no cause and effect relationship with weak erections. The two events of poor flow and weak erection may, though, occur together as both may occur with advancing age.
