Q: Can prolonged usage of tolnaftate (tinaderm) topical solution cause systemic side effects?

A:The usual duration of treatment with tolnaftate (sold as Tinaderm and Tolnaderm) normally does not exceed 4 weeks. For this duration there are no significant systemic side effect. However if there is no improvement, then diagnosis of ringworm should be reviewed.
