Are puffy cheeks due to steroid use permanent?

Q: I know that prednisolone causes puffy cheeks. But will these disappear or will they last forever?

A:The moon shaped face caused by steroids such as prednisolone takes a very long time to subside even when the medicine is stopped altogether. Merely reducing the dose will not be of much help.However, it is more important to treat the underlying disease rather than bother about the shape of the face.
