Q: I am a 27 years old female. I got my last period about 2 months back and did a home pregnancy test, which confirmed that I am pregnant. A fortnight ago I went to the doctor who did the initial scan and test. She told me that the embryo is too small. I am still confused over my pregnancy status. Please explain this.
A:Very often pregnancies start later than average which is Day 14 of the menstrual cycle. Additionally, all phenomena in early human pregnancy have a natural variation of about a week. This is probably true in your case. Occasionally, these findings may result in a miscarriage in the next few weeks. Miscarriage is not common. A repeat scan after one to two weeks will sort this out.
