Q: I am a 30 years old female trying to conceive for long. I have normal menses, ovulation and have undergone four sessions of intra uterine insemination (IUI). My husband’s semen analysis report is normal. Four months back, I was diagnosed with endometrial tuberculosis after a TB PCR test. I was on anti-tubercular medicine [two months intensive] and now on continuation phase. My doctor has asked me to go for another IUI session. When will I conceive?

A:TB PCR is not a very sensitive and specific test for endometrial tuberculosis. Now that you have already started antitubercular treatment, take it for 2 more months and complete the course. You can undergo 2-3 more cycles of IUI with documented ovulation. If you dont conceive then IVF (Test tube baby) needs to be considered.
