After how much time of squint surgery can my son join school?

Dr Pradeep Sharma

Q: My 4-year-old son was operated on for squint in the right eye 3 weeks ago. He starts school next month. Does he need to follow any precautions? He complains of burning in the operated eye sometimes. He is at home currently and is reading, writing, watching TV etc.

A:There should not be any problem at all in his joining school. In fact even after a week a child can resume most such activities, as the only problem till about three weeks post op is redness in eyes that keeps reducing with the drops like Oce Pred.etc.
