ACL tear in knee

Q: I have been diagonised with a severe ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear. What possible options do I have for cure or treatment for the same ?

A:Unfortunately ACL tears do not heal by themselves. So either you get surgery done, or you can do physiotherapy and carry on without surgery. It depends on your age, and activity. If you are young, and active, its better to get it done surgically, since long term ACL deficient knees may become arthritic. However if you are not a very active adult, you can probably get away without surgery. In that case, you might have to do lots of exercises. The results of surgery are good.Best wishes.
