This day tries to create awareness about this life-threatening condition. According to WHO, cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, and is responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globally, about 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer. Also, one-third of cancer deaths are due to the 5 leading behavioural and dietary risk factors. These include high body mass index, low fruit and vegetable intake, lack of physical activity, tobacco use and alcohol use. There are several types of cancer that can affect an individual. I am and I will is a 3-year long campaign which started in 2019 focusing on the commitment to act. In 2020 it promotes progress is possible for a world without cancer. While in 2021, it will convey that together all actions matter in eliminating cancer.
