The wonder drug is finally here. Indians, who till now knew all there is to know about Viagra, but did not have access to it, will finally be able to buy it in the Indian market. Introduced under the brand names of 'Penegra'(Cadila) and 'Edegra' (Sun Pharmaceuticals), the original Pfizer research product will be available under a doctor's prescription to the approximately fifty million Indian males suffering from Erectile Dysfunction. The drug was approved by the Drug Controller of India, which is good news for the many pharmaceutical companies vying with each other for rights to the huge domestic market. It is also widely accepted that once the drug is in the market, there will be many clones which will be available. The Indian version has been under testing for a long time and is finally ready to be released in the market. Keeping the local consumer in mind, the drug has also been reasonably priced at rupees 12 for 25 mg and rupees 18 for 50 mg potency. With this also comes the 'create awareness' campaign; the companies have launched websites dedicated to providing information about penegra, viagra, impotence and sex. Viagra, the market name for the drug sildenafil citrate, is a drug known to enhance sexual functioning in males. Taking this drug helps a man who is sexually aroused to get and maintain an erection by increasing the blood flow to the penis. It is a prescription drug and should only be taken under a doctor's supervision. There are many conditions in which the drug should not be taken. Sildenafil citrate is never prescribed when the patient is on drugs used to treat angina or high blood pressure. Although the success rate of the drug is claimed to be almost 82 percent, there are some side effects that most men have to bear with. As they say, though most the good things come in small packages, they come with their small problems too!
