Q: I am 7 months pregnant and suffering from vaginal infection. My gynaecologist suggested me to take Zocon kit. Instead of taking one tablet at a time, I consumed the whole kit (consisting of 4 tablets) twice. After having the medicine I had severe nausea and felt very sleepy. My gynaecologist said that I took an extra dose and therefore I should take rest. Will this cause any harm to my fetus? What are the side effects?

A:Zocon kit is the brand name; it contains three medicines: azithromycin, fluconazole and 2 tablets of secnidazole. Fluconazole is not to be given to pregnant women. You can consume all the medicines of one kit at a time (except fluconazole since you are expecting). There will not be much problem even if you have taken double the dose except fluconazole tablets which are not supposed to be prescribed to women during pregnancy at all.
