A:Unfortunately there is no proven, effective medicine for androgenic alopecia. Claims by manufacturers of various therapies are unproven and generally overstated. Hair transplant is one option. Topical application or intradermal injections of steroids have been tried with variable results. Minoxidil lotion (sold as Gromane) can also be tried but therapy should continue for weeks.
