Is my daughter suffering from any delays?

Q: Q. My nine months and 10 days old daughter is unable to sit without support. She doesn’t even try to sit on her own. She gained head control at five and a half months, learned to roll from back to stomach at 4-5 months and picking or holding toys at 5 months and learned to roll from back to front and vice versa at 7 months. She is otherwise a normal child delivered by C-section due to breech position. She eats well, responds well to sound and vision, smiles and recognises people well. Her blood tests are normal. Just she seems to be slightly hypotonic, little muscular weakness. Is she suffering from delayed developmental milestone? What can be the cause?

A:I would advise you to wait and watch. There is a normal variation in achieving milestones among children. Her previous milestones appear OK, a bit on the later side though and she does not appear to have any risk factors as well. So let us keep a watch, she should start sitting over the next month or so.
