What is black cataract?

Q: My father-in-law is blind for the past two years. I asked him how it happened and he said that he had black cataract. He said that the doctors suggested an operation but he ignored it and hence got blind. We showed him to some ophthalmologists but they said that vision cannot return. Can you suggest some eye hospitals in Delhi or eye specialists whom we can contact?

A:In India people call Glaucoma as black cataract in which pressure in the eye goes very high and if untreated in time can cause optic atrophy i.e. nerve behind the eyes dry up. Then not only does the eye go blind but also cannot be improved. Consult AIIMS Hospital or an ophthalmologist you trust.
