Are investigative procedures covered under medical insurance?

Q: I am a 31 years old male scheduled to undergo a kidney biopsy along with some tests including ANA titre. I want to know if these tests are covered under insurance. Do I have to pay 20% as a co-payee if I go for these tests?

A:Mediclaim Insurance cover most of the hospitalisation expenses if it is for a active line of treatment. In general, Insurance not cover hospitalisation only for investigation purpose. As biopsy classified as investigation procedure, hence not cover under mediclaim policy. Its true for any other test.

On the co-pay part, I can only say that it should be specifically mentioned in your policy. If mentioned, then it will apply on each and every claim amount payable.
