Can I become a father again?

Q: I am a 48 years old male and I underwent a semen test which showed low motility rate of sperm that is 20%. Now, I am living in Thailand and the climate is very hot here. I was all right when I was in England. I became father of a child a year back. Is heat linked to low motility rate of sperm? Can I become a father again?

A:Low motility does not necessarily affect your ability to father children especially since you've had a child 12 months ago. The heat in Thailand could be a contributing factor but we don’t know if your sperm had better motility when you were in England. You could be checked by a urologist for a varicocoele. Sometimes, this is thought to contribute to low motility.
